World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships
The second day of the World ParaVolley Sitting Volleyball World Championships saw GB take on Slovenia who are expecting to do will in this competition having finished 3rd in last year’s European Championships.
Despite a positive training session earlier in the day and some very promising signs early on for GB, Slovenia proved to be too strong and took the match 3-0 (25-12, 25-6, 25-10). Although the Slovenians played very well, the squad also felt they hadn’t performed to the best of their ability and will be looking to do much better over the rest of the week.
There is still plenty to play for over the next few. First up are European Champions, Russia, at 12.30BST today followed by games against Finland and Poland on Wednesday and Thursday. Having beaten both these sides in the last 12 months, the team are confident that they can finish inside the top 4 in their group and inside the top 8 overall in order to achieve their pre-tournament objectives.
The squad are supported by Dream It, Believe It, Achieve It, a charity partnership announced earlier this year.
