New Sitting Workshop Launched
Volleyball England have today launched a new Sitting Volleyball Workshop.
The four-hour course introduces sitting volleyball through a series of warm-ups, movement games, fun activities and adapted games – ideal for both those who have never led sessions before and those who want new ideas.
Lisa Wainwright Chief Executive of Volleyball England said: “This new workshop is an important development for the sitting game. It has been designed for a range of audiences – some from within the existing volleyball community and many from outside it. The workshop will enable people to introduce a new version of the game that is accessible to all.”
The workshop highlights the inclusive nature of the sport which makes the course ideal for teachers or leaders who are delivering to pan-disability groups or groups interested in inclusive sport.
The key areas covered in the workshop are:
- An introduction to sitting volleyball
- Understanding moving and introducing the game
- Sitting Volleyball techniques – what makes it different
- Adapted games – fun variations on playing the game
Candidates who attend the course will also receive a resource booklet and a starter kit, providing them with a net band and 5 beach balls to get a game going in almost any environment.
The workshop is 4 hours long and costs £50 per candidate (includes course fee, equipment and resources).
Anyone wishing to attend the course can visit the course finder or register their interest through the course enquiry box on the same page.
